I often had a hard time keeping track of characters as he intermixed stories of the kids and animals and the animals all had people names like, "Kim and Mary stopped in this morning for a visit , stayed long enough for a drink of fresh water and had to leave, they have been coming to the creek every morning for almost 6 months now." Next line would tell something about the kids. Your post reminded me of old Mel, a good writer, wrote a lot for various outdoor mags. Bob S.
