Sounds like you have original set up. Remove the plate or bracket under housing and see if mounting bolt is tight broken or missing. If I remember right its a 5/8 dia. bolt. Probably 7/8 or 15/16 wrench head. Bolt screws up into the piece with hex on it. As others said its solid except for taped bolt hole and 1 inch pipe threads on outside. Should have a special contoured washer under bolt head to match contour inside housing. Return fluid exiting bottom of valve goes back into suction hose to pump. Hose should be passing through tee fitting above tee your remote valve goes into. For the remote control valve to work if hoses are in original locations the lever on unit under tank has to be locked in rear position. For the unit under tank to operate single acting hydraulics the other valve has to be locked closed. Good luck
