If you were to put a test lamp on the coils input (NOT to distributor) terminal (other test lamp lead to frame ground) and turn on the ignition, THE LIGHT SHOULD LIGHT AS VOLTAGE SHOULD BE PRESENT
HOWEVER if the tractor is just setting there not running with ignition ON and you put the lamp over on the output to distributor terminal ID EXPECT IT TO BE OFF SINCE THE POINTS ARE LIKELY CLOSED THEN.....(if alls wired up correctly and the points are working good and closed)
If you turn her on and crank her over a test lamp on the coils output or distibutor input (from coil) terminal should flash ON (points open) and OFF (points closed)
