I got to thinking what you all said about the wiring and the battery cables/clamps...
...so I went up to my FIL's barn, took the clamps off the battery, took them apart and shined them up, scuffed the wires, and cleaned and shined up where the ground strap bolts to the frame, which was covered with oily crud, and she started right up! My FIL was pretty amazed.
But I took to heart what you guys said about the wiring. Called Brillman.com and ordered a new wiring harness, battery cables, a ballast resistor, and a new Delco alternator, which will eliminate the voltage regulator. They're good people, like you said, and we talked a bit about what we got, and he's sending a harness to fit the new alternator. Can't wait to get working on it.
But, you guys were right exactly dead-center on-the-money, and I wanted to say thanks for the quick and thorough help. We sure appreciated it.
And me... I live, and I learn.
