For the most part, restoring a vintage or antique tractor is a project of love (family heirloom) or an exercise in "I like to fix old things". it never has and never will be a money making proposition.
With that said, I am 3/4 of the way through restoring a 1949 IH KBS5 truck, that I will use to display/haul my tractors to shows. I am now at $14,000 plus in parts/labor alone, and that does not include the purchase price or shipping to get it to Pa from SD. When I am done, $20k is probably going to be my total investment.
When I am done, I will have had the enjoyment of doing the restoration, and the pride of being able to show the truck. I highly doubt it will ever be worth what I have into it, and quite frankly, I don't care.
