I"m working on a friends 240 that drains the battery. Today I 1)Disconnected the coil, 2)disconnected the wires from the small post on the starter relay and the link between the relay and the starter, 3)Disconnected the generator wires. The voltage regulator and generator look fairly new and after removing the VR cover I could see the points were both open. I think I will disconnect the voltage regulator just to make sure that isn"t it. The battery shows 6 volts and with the positive cable removed I get 3 volts between it and the battery post. Is this a positive or negative ground system? When I hook the cable to the battery, the ammeter does not move. Right now it is neg. ground. If I remove the neg. cable from the frame, the drain goes away. Next step is pull up the instrument panel and check the wires under there. What hydraulic oil does this take, it"s low. Wiring diagram? TIA
