F12 headgasket leak

I thought restoration was done on my F12. Turns out once more that (as Roger Welsch would say) there is still some more fun left in her. I have had enough fun - now I want it to run. After reassembly and putting fluids into the tractor, I started cranking and noticed that antifreeze is seeping out of the headgasket. This was not happening prior to restoration, so I didn't expect (or look for) any cracks in the head or block. I will, once I disassemble it again. Questions: I just assumed that the headgasket should be put on without any sealer (dry). I torqued the head down to 130 lbs, starting in the center and working outward both directions. Neither of these points is covered in any of my manuals, but from experience, seems right. Also, I think I remember that you can find cracks by rubbing a cloth soaked in paint thinner over the surface. A crack will absorb some of the liquid and show up. Right? I will use a new headgasket, regardless of whether I find cracks or not. Any advice on these issues?
