Is the replacement gasket have metel on both surfaces and a filler in the center? These used called (copper-asbestos) but we dont use asbestos anymore. The new gasket should look like that though. The other style doesn't seem to seal as well. I always use aluninum spray paint on both sides. Worked good for 34 years.
