In Memory Of
Scott Satterlund

In late June 2003, tractor collectors around the country lost a very special friend. Scott C. Satterlund, Co-Owner of Binder Books, Tigard Oregon lost his quick but futile battle with brain cancer. Scott's roots in the very large International Harvester Family started early when his Grandfather opened one of the very first "Base of Operations" IH dealerships in Cumberland, Wisconsin. He grew up around and on IH tractors, trucks, and assorted equipment of the IH line.

Scott's love of old iron became a passion when he started selling manuals from the trunk of his vehicle at tractor shows or wherever there was a gathering of collectors. This passion grew to the point of establishing and opening Binder Books in Tigard. Their mission was and remains to provide the very best reprints of manuals for tractors, implements, equipment and trucks of the IH line to fill the needs of Collectors Nationwide. You would be hard pressed to look at any collector's library and not see a manual purchased at Binder Books which is almost a household word with the many collectors out there today.

He was a gentleman, a husband, a father, a collector, and a friend to anyone who ever needed help. When the Northwest Chapter of IH Collectors Chapter 30 was established in June 2001, he readily accepted the nomination and was quickly voted in as one of the Chapters Directors at the Chapters first Annual meeting. He served that assignment well and was a huge asset that will be most difficult to replace.

Collectors can rest assured that Binder Books will continue to serve their needs with Scott's wife Cyndi keeping his passion alive. Scott will be missed but it helps to know he is now serving the Supreme Collector.

A NOTE FROM CYNDI SATTERLUND

I would like to thank everyone for the cards and their kindness in regards to the recent illness and loss of my husband, Scott Satterlund. I know he would have appreciated how many people cared and been overwhelmed (as he often times was, form the "Get Well" cards he received). I am certain if prayers and good wishes could have made him well he would have had a swift recovery. It seems God had other plans for him.

I know how much he enjoyed meeting and visiting with all of you other "IH" collectors out there. He loved attending shows and buying, selling and swapping IH equipment, collectibles and stories.

We have asked anyone wishing to make a contribution in Scott's memory, can make one to the Scott Satterlund Memorial Fund at:

American Brain Tumor Association
2270 River Rd.
Des Plains, IL. 60018

They have a web site:

www.abta.com where you can make a donation "online" or call them at 1-800-866-2282

Thanks again and God Bless,
Cyndi Satterlund
