They have been used in race car engines since at least the early 1980's. I two rings for the top piston ring groove (at least on racing engines). Total Seal should have a website. They were good products when I used them. If Total Seal are using the two ring design on diesel engines for the top ting groove it may or may not work as well. Most diesel engines use a keystone design (ring and groove made like a triangle) to self clean carbon and unburnt fuel.
