I talked to a couple Case Back hoe dealer"s mechanics and they said to move the cover back and forth as I wiggled the shift lever. Wrong!
We split the tractor between the trans. case and the case in front of it about a good inch and put a small bolt between them in the hole the middle rail was sticking in and then pulled the two cases back together with the 4 side bolts that hold them together and it pushed the rail into place and we lifted off the cover. Yea!!! Then removed the little bolt we used from the inside. Worked great. The two cases can be pulled a part and still be riding on the 4 long bolts on the side so the tractor does not have to be blocked up (but we did anyhow for safey). The only thing we had to unhook were the two loader brackets on each side of the front end. No more than we moved it, everything else moved with the tractor. This was an easy solution to a difficult problem. I did have the smaller fork broken and a chip on one tooth but hope to get the fork welded today and then to be back in business. I HOPE!!! But for anyone with this issue, this method worked great. thanks, jbuzzz
