Was reading a post on this subject, a little farther down the page, and saw that lemmond1, and Kyhayman, both suggested, the use of chicken manure, on grass. I agree, after seeing what a few spreader fulls, did to the neighbors pasture. Last fall the neighbor lady, rented me her barn to store hay in, but I had to first clean the concrete floor. It had 10 yrs acumilation, of chicken and pigeon manure on it, mixed with 6" of hay or straw. I only had 3 spreader loads, and spread them just inside her pasture fence. It only covered about a 50 ft strip on her 5 acres, and looked terrible, with all the feathers, all over the place. I was over there this past week with my sprayer, looking for tansy, and thistle,and couldnt belive the heavy growth, where the manure had been applied! WE have access to free manure, from two local egg farms, but have to haul 10 yards at a time, to get it. I am looking for an old 10 yd. truck, so I can get enough to do my 15 acres.
