Around here in W Tx, back in the 50's, 60's and up into the 70's, every farm had at least one Hoeme (pronounced "Hamey") and usually 2 or 3 and they were used just about year round. Plowing cotton ground in the fall and wheat ground in the summer, along with plowing turnrows and layout ground. First time I ever got to drive a "big" tractor (Farmall 560LP) by myself when I was 10 yr old, it was pulling a "Hamey" plowing a playa lake bottom. Sorry about such a long post, but this topic brought back many memories...lol

While I love straightening sheet metal, cleaning, and painting old tractors, I use every excuse to avoid working on the on the electrics. I find the whole process sheer mystery. I have picked up and attempted to read every auto and farm electrics book with no improvement in the situation. They all seem to start with a chapter entitled "Theory of Electricity". After a few paragraphs I usually close the book and go back to banging out dents.
