Cutest thing I have ever seen were kill dee (snipes?) babies. They nested in our pasture (probably decimated by fire ants, too). The babies looked like a little puff of feathers on toothpicks. Cute as they could be.
15+ yrs ago there were quail at the farm. I can remember hearing them from the house. That was before the fire ants moved in to the area.
Now the quail are gone. So are the ticks. Don"t mind the ticks being gone, but miss the quail.
