A few are misunderstanding how this unit is setup.
The tractor hooks to the drawbar at the bottom end of the auger and stays there during use. The PTO is directly mounted to the screw. The auger is fed by a drag that can go under hopper bottom trailers or wagons. The drag is powered by a hydraulic motor. This is a very popular setup these days, but most augers are now 10, 12, or 13 inch.
I went and looked at it today. He ran it for me and I didn't see any flexing like the auger was bent. there is some rust-through in the tubing right at the base of the auger that will have to be patched. The flighting is getting pretty sharp, but it's not folded over yet. I'm gonna put about 8000 bushel of corn and 2000 bushel of wheat through it a year, so it'd last me 100 years as it is. I REALLY like the hydraulic lift... Next egg check comes on the 15th. I hope he doesn't sell it by then. If only it were about 15 feet shorter.
