: The tractor club I belong to is getting organized this year to include tractor pulling at some of our summer get togethers. The organizers have decided that only unmodified tractors will be allowed to pull at club events. I visited a friend on Friday at the machine shop where he works . While there he showed me the engine of a fellow club member's McCormick-Deering tractor that was being worked on . When I asked the extent of the work I was told that it was being bored , and the head was being shaved by .050 inches . When I asked if the head was out that much my friend said no, that it was being done so it will pull better. I watched as the head was set up and the initial cuts were made . The head cleaned up at about .010 inches but an additional .040 inches was removed. To those that know something about pulling , could you still consider the engine to be stock? Or, is this guy cheating ? Everyone knows that nobody CHEATS at tractor pulling. RIGHT! In our pulling club the rule is that it has to look original on the outside and a few other rules go along with that of course. Our rules are posted at http://members.aol.com/Seatp/index.html Of course we pull all classes. deadeye
