On the hay ride wagon we use at the museum, I got a 6 volt flasher from NAPA (2 prong) and ran power in one side and out to the lights from the other. You can use the crimp on spade connecters to attach the wires. 12 volt would be done the same way. If you have 12 volt and want a better setup - Get the flasher (I don't recall the part #) that they use in a School Buss. That will give the lights that wig-wag look.
