I use 12 volt on my 6 volt tractors to start them. I have never had a problem but do not hook to the battery. I jump directly to the starter. I have six 6 volt tractors that I use now and then for different things thru the summer months. I use a jump n carry unit. I just had a blue one go bad and just bought a red one to replace it that can be plugged in all the time. They are like a pocket in a shirt. I would be lost without one.
