09heritage.......you ask......"My question is on the weights in the deistributer is two metal straps. One of the straps is shorter than the other is that normal".......yep. Be certain to use yer SHORT 3/16" screw to hold the points and not the more common 1/4" screw that is used to hold the condenser inplace. (neubies gitt'um mixed up)
You do know ittza 2-bolt, 15-min job to remove the weird 4-nipple frontmount dizzy and install the points (0.015") on the kitchen table, don't you??? Just unsnapple yer capple and letter dangle. Installation is a reversal of the the removal ...except... gently start yer 2-bolt and then twirl yer rotor until the dizzy tang drops into the OFF-SET cam drive slot. then gently tighten yer 2-bolts and re-snapple yer capple. Simple, eh?
Remember to "polish" the INVISIBLE corrosion from between the points. After assembly, (0.015") I clamp a clean $1 bill between the points and pull. Iff'n yer really cheap, tear a strip of HEAVY brown paper from a grocery sack and use that. Iff'n you don't "polish" the points, guess what??? WEAK SPARKIES!!! .........Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister
