Ailanthus, no question a weed. I pluck them with my Cat loader, to which my Dept. of Forestry applauds. 12" diameter, no problem to uproot. Also old iron, 50 yrs, great hydraulics.
I was surprised to discover how large the grove was, 60' tall. Lots of sun for natives now.
