Like many others, I bought a decent Chinese one for $100 close to 20 years ago and still have it, but in today's market there's no way I'd sell it for twice that. It's simple supply and demand--the demand for a reliable, simple, adequately powerful semi-auto rifle is still high and the supply has shrunken considerably--these guns are 50+ years old in most cases and stocks are dwindling--about the only ones you see "new" anymore are the Yugo ones with a grenade launcher on the barrel, which are not considered first-rate by most buyers but are all that's available.
