Steve; Did you know that the Tomb of The Unknown Soldier is one solid block of White Marble which was mined by the Yule Marble Co at Marble Colorado back in the 1930's? The quarry and a lot of the Mine and Milling operations still remain there. That is not too far from you. Take a trip to Glenwood Springs, then south out of town to Carbondale ,take a right to Redstone and a little farther right before you continue towards McClure pass take a left to Marble. A favorite tourist spot for us,or go to Paonia and go over McClure pass and at the foot of the grade down from the pass take a right to Marble. We have camped along the roaring fork at Crystal. Very nice country to vacation at. You are very fortunate to be able to live where you do. If I was much younger and the altitude would not bother me I would seriously consider moving to Colorado. My son lives at Florrescent near Pikes Peak, almost straight north of Cripple Creek.
