Just about everybody in my area of NY has Maine plates on their trailers and it's 100% legal - so far. NY DMV is trying to get new laws to stop it.
I have Maine plates here in NY and lifetime Michigan plates on some stuff I have in northern Michigan - but . . . State of Michigan is trying to end the "lifetime" thing. There are two proposals. One to end it completely, and the other to honor the ones that now exist but no longer grant new ones. My Michigan plates are in my father-in-law's name and he's 87 years old. I wonder which will expire first - the plates or him (no offense pops if your reading).
I have a "lifetime New York State reservoir fishing license I bought in 1974. They will no longer accept it. I also have NAPA "lifetime" warrantees on many parts that now - only get honored once and then what they call "lifetime" is over.
