Lou, I have done similar things such as if Im at a store or restaurant etc and get exceptional polite service above and beyond whats required, I go and ask for the manager and tell them about it. However a reason Ive done such is because if the service is horrible I also report it to the manager and figure I should be fair and equal. The last time I reported bad service the owner THANKED ME for letting him know saying otherwise he wouldnt know to correct it and maybe 10 customers would have been driven away. Sometime thereafter I went to the same business and the same attendant provided much better service and, of course, I again let the owner know and he was quite pleased.
Some may think Im a grouchy old fuddy duddy (which I am basically) because I complain (they say just let it go) if its warranted but I also compliment and reward for good service. Thats just how Im wired.
