Just going from memory, I think he's referring to the official John Deere operators manual. Seems like I remember reading, then re-reading the same passage and still not being sure what weight of oil was recommended for the FR gearcase. Mebbe the writers of the manual figured we'd be smart enough to know, but as you have often pointed out - we aren't. (smart enuf to know)
I've had "experts" tell me to use engine oil and other "experts" tell me 90 wt gear lube.
The 90 wt makes sense to me, but I remember the manual being rather vague.
