Tim, I've given my wife gifts over the years that pretty much run the whole spectrum, from a rototiller to diamonds. The one gift I can easily say she's used and enjoyed every day since I gave it to her last Christmas is an Apple Ipad. It's always near her when she's at home, either checking calendars for kid's activities, shopping on the internet, catching up on news, downloading and reading novels in bed, or watching movies on Netflicks. I'm thankful she's not a Facebook junkie or I'd never get any attention. I got her the baseline model without the phonecard (must be near a friendly wireless net for connectivity) and the least amount of memory. Haven't regretted it a bit. It may have more functionality than she needs, you might find another to do all she likes to do for less (new Kindle fire?), don't know. I do know I'm having a heck of a time coming up with ideas for this year's Christmas present that will come close to last year's Ipad.
