I get the generic 6 week supply at Walgreens or Shopko. Take it daily. So do all my brothers. Went in to the doc a little over a year ago because of my heartburn (daily) and told him of my brothers. He gave me a prescription, but it's cheaper for me to buy the big 6 week packs of the generic than toi keep getting a monthly prescription.
My oldest brother let it go a little too long and developed Barret's Esophogus. That's where the tissues in your throat start to morph, and the next stage is cancer. He caught it in time and now it's going back to normal, but it is surely not something to ignore.
My mom's friend just lost a brother to esophogial cancer. Bascially starved to death the last couple days because he couldn't eat and they couldn't do anything else for him. If you're too stubborn to go to a doctor, atleast keep ahead of your heartburn with a pill or it could be your future too.
