Well, I"ve replaced a bunch of those bulbs around here, and best as I can tell, even with a lot of careful control if usage, our power bill doesn"t reflect any savings. As far as a "smart meter" - never heard of one. I got one of the old dumb ones, just keeps a cranking!
PS, Not satisfied with those bulbs on several levels - light output, especially when cold, cost and frequecy of replacement, and don"t really seem to be a savings in usage. Plus the darn things create a noise in the radio spectrum that can all but destroy radio communications.

While I love straightening sheet metal, cleaning, and painting old tractors, I use every excuse to avoid working on the on the electrics. I find the whole process sheer mystery.
