Heck just a few short years ago in Mn you had the retreat law, you had to retreat if possible. Then if you did use deadly force you had to be able to prove that the perp was intent on doing you "grievous bodily harm". About 15 miles from me a mother shot and killed her ex who was holding their 12 yo kid with a knife to the kids throat. She got 2 years because she could have gone out the back door and called for help. Now things have changed and we are waiting to see if our governor is going to sign the castle law or not.
