17 inches of snow here yesterday, about 10 in Seattle (north of us). Today, a warm rainy front coming from the southwest going north, hitting the cold air underneath, so we get freezing rain instead of snow, beginning this morning. About an 1/8 inch of ice on the branches here, and will be worse going north to Seattle, because its colder there.
But the worst is that we have mostly fir trees, and they had a full load of snow, which is now getting saturated and are icing up to boot. Result is that the tops are breaking out, and falling on powerlines, etc. I have 4 tops on my goat fence this AM- went out to cut them off, and another crashed down about 15 feet from me. Sounded like a rifle shot when it broke.
Decided maybe I didn't want to do that after all, and penned up the goats in the barn instead.
There will be lots of power outages- but we always seem to cope with it somehow.
