I don't know about that. Yeah, stockpiling ammo for a small army is one thing but to say there is NO chance of a financial collapse is another. By the economics I studied in college you can't put IOU's in the cookie jar and have creditors roll debt over indefinitely without major consequences at some point. There will be a point where we will not be able to find backers for our debt and the day that happens there will be trouble. My grandmother was a teen at the end of WWI living in Eastern Europe and she saw first hand what desperation would do driving normally civilized people to do uncivilized things. I see nothing wrong with preaching a little general preparedness.
