Quit about 30 years ago. Things got up to about 50 cents a pack and I decided I couldn't afford any longer. For me, the main problem was that without a cigarette to suck on, my mouth always seemed to want something to do. Kinda by accident I got some sassafras tree roots, about pencil size, washed the dirt off and cut them into one-inch lengths, leaving the bark on. I'd keep one of these things in my mouth like a dip of snuff for hours. I think they may be mildly narcotic in addition to having a nice taste. Worked for me, won't say it would for you.

While I love straightening sheet metal, cleaning, and painting old tractors, I use every excuse to avoid working on the on the electrics. I find the whole process sheer mystery.
