Unfortunately China owns so much of US that we won't be able to reinforce intellectual property rights, we can't afford that. My gut feeling is eventually the market will be effected, the people (Ford) with the design ability will go bankrupt then China won't have any one to copy from, unless they have developed in house capabilities they'll be up a creek without a paddle. Will that happen? NO if you look you'll see a disparagingly large portion of the engineers graduating from college around the world are Chinese. Look how we treat engineers in this country, my former boss was a civil engineer, ran the public works department for the county, earned a lot less than the MBA who was the county administrator that time and time again demonstrated he couldn't count to 30 and hence the friction between the administrator and public works.
