One word of caution - be REAL careful if you go propane, even for just a little while.
Not all heaters are the same.
The ones you use in ice shanty's have a catalytic material that allows them to burn without the carbon monoxide.
MANY propane heaters - including most "job site heaters" - do not have this feature and WILL KILL YOU. It happens over and over again. People ignore the warning, or think they'll feel the poisoning coming on be able to get into fresh air as needed.
If you're going to heat a small space - or any space attached to another living space - you can NOT use just ANY propane heater - be ABSOLUTELY sure it's rated for use in a living space.
Having said that - I'd go with the pipe tape anyways, unless you want the room to be warm for some other reason.
