I have a next door neighbor (in MI) who has it and loves it (says only $100 a month to heat his leaky house). The soil out there is ideal for it. I also have a house in CT where it would be impractical due to the amount of explosives required to get anything in the ground. My MI house has a 5+ star energy rating and costs less than $1000 a year, in propane, to heat. I looked into geo and the prices quoted to me were a joke. I could never see the return in my remaining lifetime. If you are younger then it might be worth the investment. When I move my backhoe to MI I might consider doing it myself but we'll see.
