Finally got the chance today to ride down in one of the neighborhoods that got hit by the tornado this past weekend. I've been working on a piece of equipment a customer was using to clean up debris where it had done 'a little' damage but what a difference several hundred yards made. Looked like it was in the process of jumping when it went across where I was working but on into the next neighborhood the top was gone off of one house, and the house next to it was basically gone. What's really strange is that a couple houses down on either side the lawn furnature was still setting in the yard, untouched, no siding gone, etc, etc. I haven't seen it but I was told by a police officer that after it jumped the interstate it hit the next neighborhood over full force and what I was seeing with the few houses hit where I was wasn't even a drop in the bucket.
Now to the miracle part. I had heard the story several times this wek from various people but given the subject matter thought it was just alot of BS. That said I asked the cop I was talking to about it and he verified what I had heard. Seems there were three kids sucked out of one, or more, of the demolished houses by the tornado and set down a couple of hundred yards away on the interstate. He said other than a few cuts and bruises all three kids were just fine. Like I said I thought it was all BS but the cop verified that it did actually happen. Now if that happening and those kids not being hurt ain't a miracle, I don't know what is. One thing about it, they will all three sure have something to tell their kids and grandkids about when they get older......
