NYs inspection laws baffle me. The emissions standards are the same for my 97 F150 as they are for a brand new car! Over the past few months I've put on both exhaust manifolds, both side pipes with cats and 3 O2 sensors. All to get the little yellow dash light to go off. Exhaust leaks cause the computer to read the truck running lean. But if it was a '96 (a 16 year old truck instead of a 15 year old truck) the dash light wouldn't matter as long as the computer showed 2 emissions systems working, or so it's explained to me. And if it was a 85 or older, there are zero emissions tests.
How NY expects people to get 10 plus year old cars and trucks to pass emissions inspection is beyond me.
