I have a mid 80's JD 160 lawn tractor with 11 or 12hp Kawasaki engine. Not sure how many hours but that engine runs very well, never had a bit of trouble with it. Just done regular maintenance and cleaning to it. I'm probably the 3rd owner. With that many hours I'd say if the engine starts and runs well with no strange noises or blue smoke, it's probably ok for at least light use.
