I had a 250 for 20 years. It used to get stuck in that creeper gear that was forward only. Even with the gearshift in neutral it moved forward. If you put either shift lever in any other gear and released the clutch, it would stall the engine because it was in 2 gears at once. (Due to that oddball transmission setup where the creeper gear drivetrain bypasses the whole rest of the transmission.) I cut a 6"x6" square hole in the floorboard around the main shift lever, unbolted and removed the shift tower, and used a screwdriver to flip it out of gear. Had to do this a couple of times over the years, BUT the secret was to shift out of creeper gear very slowly and not try to cut across the corner of the shift pattern. After I figured that out I never had the problem again.
