Thanks, Sam. The 6v. starter will be easier to get locally plus I can be sure it will fit. What about that voltage regulator? Do I need to replace it with a 12v or rewire it so that it only receive 6v? : : This is the first time I've posted on this forum so I hope I can get some good advice. I have a 1952 Harry Ferguson tractor. A local mechanic of questionable skill converted the electrical system by installing a 12v alternator and a resistor. The starter just broke (cast iron housing on it broke) and I was hoping to replace it with a 12v starter. I think the only 12v starter available is for a TO-35. Will it fit my tractor? Also I obtained a volt meter today and found out that the voltage regulator is putting out 12v. Is this OK since it is the original 6v regulator? I've probably shown my ignorance as to electrical systems but maybe someone out ther can help me out. Thanks in advance!
