My middle son lives in an old farm house on some ground my brother and I own. We have been remodeling the house a little at a time. We have installed a 200 electrical service and all new breaker box. We are replacing the wiring room at a time as we redo the walls and such.
The new breaker box did it's job. He is using two room AC units to cool the upstairs until we get the furnace ducts ran to the second floor. It has been real humid the last few days so he has the AC on low just to keep things from sweating.
The pictures are what happens when a receptacle overheats. The receptacle, wiring, and AC unit all are less than two years old. The receptacle was rated for 20 AMPs buttttttt it was China made. The AC unit calls for a 15 AMP receptacle. I have since switched brands and now use all US made ones. They cost twice as much but as the pictures show the cheap ones almost cost us a house.
We got lucky this time. This happened when we where all at church this morning.
