This is a positive note about a Sear's Diehard Gold lawn and garden battery. I tried to start my lawn tractor yesterday, the battery was dead and wouldn't take a charge. Thinking back, I couldn't remember when I last changed it. I took it out and was surprised to see the date of manufactor as 9/99. It was working good last fall so that means it lasted over 12 years. I do not take any extra care of my batteries, never take it out over the winter or put on a battery tender. Maybe this was an exception, but I feel it's worth buying another, even at $59. I remember getting only 2 years at best from the ones I would buy at Tractor supply, so the cost is s lot less based on years of service.
Not sure who makes the gold L&G battery for Sear's, but have been told they are made by Johnson Controls.
