I know in Wisconsin and Michigan vehicles can be transferred between family members without sales tax, your mileage may vary. I also found out it is illegal to operate a motor vehicle on Florida streets that hasn't had sales tax paid unless you're a dealer. So if you're in the Service and happen to get stationed in Florida and happen to be driving a car that oh say you bought from your father in Michigan and your wife wants to drive it to work you're on the hook for sales tax and tag & title fees. Another way to make and end run around the Solider's and Sailor's relief act. Florida should proclaim "we fleece veterans"
