1st year I ran this NH850 behind my Oliver S88 I used 1st gear and every bale I tried to spike all I could do was push them around because the spike would not go in to them. I then tried to pick one up by chaining it in the bucket and ended up lifting one or both rear wheels of my 841 ford off the ground and that was with a back blade on with 6- 85lbs suit case weights on the blade and the rears filled with fluid. That year I ended up using a Cat 950 loader to move hay with and got the manual and soon learned I needed more speed to reduce how heavy the bales where. I now use 3rd gear and that works well. Good heavy bale at around 1800lbs give or take a little bit and nice and tight but not so tight as to be real hard to spike
