Take a look at the pictures on this web page. These are pictures of the Nashua River, a river that runs through the town I live in, among others. The first one is from the 60's - pre-EPA and Clean Water Act. The second is after the EPS and the Clean Water Act. Which would you prefer? I can remember as a kid listening to the old guys in the local hardware store making bet on what color the river would be today. Green? Red? Blue? Yellow? Orange? Foam so thick you couldn't tell?
I think the EPA has exceeded its mandate and need to be reeled in some. They need to back off individuals. But those who think we'd be better off without the EPA and any other environmental regulation have either forgotten how bad it was back then, or are too young to have ever seen what it was like without them. Careful what you wish for...
