NO JD 520 should EVER get (or be) OLD..!! They are too nice to operate...if it IS "Old", it is time to make it "Young Again"...!!! You need to see an Electric wiring Diagram to actually see and correct the problem.. There is a Resistor behind the instrument (Dash) that is to Reduce Operating Voltage to the ignition points (While Running)..AND: A "Bypass" circuit that let's FULL Battery Voltage to the Ignition Points when then the Starter is engaged... That is where your problem lies.. For TEMP. (Emergency), you can run a Jumper from the Battery, to the Coil..to get it to run and move it for repairs..just be SURE to Remove the Jumper when you turn the engine OFF... Ron..
