We got hit pretty hard by a fast moving wind storm last evening right about dark.It covered most of the state, WVa. and northern NC. 6 people dead in Va. 2 were in Bedford co. Had 80 mph straight line winds. Radar showed rain where I live but none hit the ground. 250 roads in the state are blocked/closed. In the 3 state area there was about 1.5 million being reported without power. Small town east of me still has no power. Where there is power their are buildings for folks to come to to cool off from the heat. I'm 60 years old now and never seen a storm like this before. Was outside and could hear the wind long before it got here.
Contractor just finished putting a new metal roof on my house right before the storm hit and put it to a good test last night. Been going around to neighbors with the tractor and root grapple cleaning up limbs and such. Forecast is warning we may get more today.
I hope we miss the storms today and ask everyone to send a prayer for the folks that have no power in this heat and those that lost property and family. Pretty tough out there in this heat again today.
