Well just jump right in!!! I bet that you can make a small fortune raising them. Only one problem I can see. You will need a large fortune to start with!!! Three different guys around me here in north-east Iowa have tried to make them work. Two are bankrupt and the other is getting closer each year.
The real issue is marketing. Bison that posts on here is in Canada and I think they have a better association up there that actually helps with marketing. Here in the US you really need to develop your own market for the meat.
You just can't load them up and go to the sale barn. If you are good at selling things you may be able to make it work. If you are like many farmers and don't really like dealing with people than you will not have very good luck in the Bison business. The hard work is the selling not the growing.
The further you are away from larger population centers the harder the marketing will be.
