Ok Dave, I've got the solution for the 'man purse' dilema for you. It's been working for me for nearly 15 years and I figure will still be working in another 15. Ok, here it is, carry one of the small Playmate coolers.
Doing mobile equipment repair I never know where I'm going to be on any given day. The way things used to be I might ride with my Dad one day and then be in my truck the next. I might get out of town and find I had to stay for a night or two to finish up a job. I always carried a change of clothes on the truck so I was fine there, but what about things like my checkbook, spare glasses (I wear contacts so they were needed in case I got something in my eyes), contact solution, first aid items and any medicines I might need, etc, etc, etc. I finally just started putting everyhing in an old flip top Playmate cooler I had and it worked great. I can carry it from vehicle to vehicle if needed, I leave it looking relatively dirty for 'security reasons'... because 'who wants and old nasty cooler'... Ultimately, regardless of where I am, I can throw the cooler in the floorboard and I've got whatever items I typically might need that I can't carry in my pockets.
Like I said nearly 15 years and counting and the same old cooler is still going strong. It's been washed once and let get dirty again, but looks aside it still carries everything I need.
