The info I got was it was near a small town about fifty miles in from the coast. Started with an N. Their orders were to navigate from Greenville to Myrtle Beach, land, fuel, and then sortie out to the "seventy five millimeter target range" out in the Atlantic. They were flying a B25. On the way back to Greenville, the nosewheel door came off and hit part of the tail. Subsequent B25s were made with two nosewheel door latches. one on either side. Older planes were also modified. It is my understanding that some b25s had tank cannons mounted to the side.(near the nosewheel door.) k
